I started running in the summer of 2013 as a way of relieving stress and to get in shape for my wedding. I ran my first half marathon in Crystal Lake, Illinois in the Fall of 2013 and struggled the whole way due to a knee injury. But as soon as I crossed the finish line I knew I was hooked and immediately started researching my next half. I found the Starved Rock Half Marathon and considering how beautiful the area is and the timing for the race it was the perfect one for me. I have run the Starved Rock Half every year since. I've never run another race as well organized and safe as the SRCM. I love how the entire city supports the runners. When I realized all of the finish medals fit together like a puzzle I said "Well, now I can never stop running!" I'm completely hooked. It's become my and my husband's favorite tradition to go to dinner at Tracy's the night before and celebrate with a beer immediately after the race. The staff at the finish line always remember him because he asks if he can give me my medal. We can't wait to come back!
